Title: What Can Split Testing Do For You?

Hello,

Okay, maybe you’re still not sure if split testing can
really help your business. Maybe you think it only works
for big e-commerce sites or people selling info products.
Or maybe you think you don’t get enough traffic to make a
difference.

But the fact is, split testing can give a boost to nearly
any type of online business you can think of. Big or small,
e-commerce or blog—it doesn’t matter.

Let’s say you’re running a small blog that only gets a few
hits per day. You’re collecting emails on your blog with a
popup, but you’re only getting a few new leads each week.
You might think split testing wouldn’t help you, but you’d
be wrong.

We’ll assume you’re getting a total of 100 visitors per
week, and that 1% of those people, on average, opt in to
your email list. That’s about 10 leads each week.

Now let’s say you decided to run a split test on the
popup you’re using to gather emails. Maybe you try a new
design, or a new call-to-action.

It might take you a few weeks to gather enough information
to make your test statistically accurate, but after a
while, you notice your opt-ins have more than doubled,
and you’re getting over 20 new emails per week. That’s
huge, right?

Your original 10 subscribers per week would have been about
520 subscribers in a year, but the new rate of 20 per week
would get you 1,040 instead! Talk about a big difference!

Okay, what if you’re not even collecting emails or selling
anything? (Why wouldn’t you be collecting emails?)

You can split test things like article titles to see
which ones get better response rates, and thus more visits.

For example, you might create two article titles that
you think would make good click bait. Then you split test
both article titles to see which one gets more clicks.

This works especially well if you have a source of traffic
you can use to test both titles. For example, you could run
two different ads on Facebook, one using each title, to see
which one gets a better CTR.

Hopefully you’re starting to see the power of split testing.
No matter what you’re doing online—blogging, email marketing,
video marketing, product creation, e-commerce—it doesn’t
matter. Split testing can make a big difference in your
results!

Tomorrow, we’re going to take a look at some of the different
elements you can test, and how to best use those to improve
your bottom line.
