Subject: After Your Scope

Ive walked you through the steps of getting started with Periscope. By now, you know how to get the app, how to sign in, how to create your bio, and how to start a scope. But theres a final piece of the puzzle, and that is what to do AFTER your scope. And this can be just as important as creating the scope itself!

The first thing you need to know is that scopes are only kept online for 24 hours after the broadcast. That means that unless you keep a copy yourself, your scope will disappear forever after one full day!

Fortunately, you can go to your settings and turn on a slider to automatically save all your scopes to your device. Of course, your device will probably fill up quickly. Video can be HUGE in file size!

But theres a service you can use to collect all your scopes for later use. Its called Katch, and once you sign up for the service and link your Periscope and Twitter accounts to it, the service will automatically save all your scopes to the Katch website where theyll be permanently viewable.

You can find out more about Katch and sign up for the service at:

If you set your broadcasts to autosave in your settings, you can take those videos and upload them to YouTube or to your own website to get even more use out of them, giving you additional ways to pull in traffic! YouTube is a huge source of traffic, and uploading your videos there is sure to bring in extra traffic.

You can also upload your videos to your computer first, if you like, so you can edit them before uploading them to YouTube. This way you can add stuff like subtitles or the URL to your website right over your videos.

Dont worry if you dont get many viewers when youre actually live. Just keep broadcasting, because your scope will be saved on the server for 24 hours. Most broadcasts dont get many live viewers, but youll see more people viewing your scopes over those 24 hours.

That concludes our series on Periscope. I hope youve learned a lot about the Periscope system, how to use it, and how to make the most out of the scopes you create.

Remember, Periscope is still in its infancy. Its only likely to grow over the coming years, so its a very good idea to start building your platform on the site right now, before the floodgates open.

Now get out there and start scoping!

The next lesson will be delivered to your inbox shortly. :)
